Description
There are three known states of this print. The first is an etching with the slight tonal effects of aquatint (in the sky, the greys on the ground, the mountain, agave plant and the figure). Many elements have been erased in the second state, as can be seen in the photos. Even more have been removed in the third state and a boy has been added, his arms raised, in place of the girl… It would appear that these were really three different works due to the differences between one state and another. The catalogue for the exhibition at La Pinacoteca only mentions a single proof.
