Description
Scene depicting five bird hunters accompanied by two dogs in the forest. Large, bell-shaped glass. One-off piece. There is a similar one in the Cèlia Crespo collection with slight variations. This one was the first in the series and became misshapen during firing. Nogués destroyed all the defective pieces but Conxa Crespo wanted to salvage this one because it had taken such a lot of effort to make. Nogués agreed and broke it on one side on the express condition that the piece would never leave the Crespo’s house. When Nogués remade it, he changed the frieze on the base for floral motifs. Unfortunately, this old black and white photograph is the only surviving record of the glass. Image rights: Dani Rovira.

Notes
With the collaboration of Conxa Domènech. Xavier Nogués is the author of the drawings and, sometimes, also of the pictorial transposition with enamel on the glass, Ricard Crespo was responsible for the firing of the pieces and Conxa Domènech de Crespo who also traced and reviewed Nogués’ drawings. The degree of Xavier Nogués’ direct participation is especially evident in the finishes and when compared with the original drawings.
