Description
Three women with wicker baskets collecting grapes and a man perched on a step ladder picking grapes from a vine, set against a rural backdrop featuring a farmer and a horse ploughing a field.
This work was part of the murals Nogués created for the dining room of Lluís Plandiura’s house in La Garriga (1936). The murals consisted of three panels on the following themes: Fishing and Hunting, Summer and Harvest (the latter two were also referred to as Flowers and Fruit).
The Barcelona auction house Subarna sold this piece on 16th April 2026 (lot 808). According to the catalogue description, the painting is registered with the Institut Amatller d’Art Hispànic and was the artist’s last mural. It was acquired by the Catalan government to go on permanent display at the wine museum, VINSEUM, Museu de les Cultures del Vi de Catalunya.
We are grateful to the Subarna auction house for its assistance in helping us catalogue this work and for its permission to reproduce the accompanying images. We are especially indebted to Maria Rodriguez from the Paintings Department.
