Description

This scene of a picnic in a rural setting with three figures is Nogués’ last-known painting, done the year before he died of heart disease. The artist worked on these themes when he was in Olot during the Spanish Civil War, where he painted and gave etching and lithography classes at the school run by the Catalan government, the Escola de Paisatge.

We would like to thank Manel Riera (conservator of the El Conventet collection) for making it possible to include this work in our catalogue.
