Description

Enamelled-glass medallion decorated with the figure of Saint George on horseback with the dragon. The medallion has a very fine silver chain with blue and green beads. It was a gift from Nogués’ widow, Isabel Escalada, to Cecília Vidal i Maynou and was displayed at the exhibition held at the Palau de la Virreina in March 1967. Another medallion has been found in a private collection in Barcelona. It is on the same theme but with slight differences. The initials “N” and  “C” are at the bottom instead of the top. It is more than likely that this medallion was a commission. The finish of the second medallion lacks the subtlety and finesse of the first one. We cannot rule out that it was made by Ricard Crespo and his wife Conxa Doménech Colls, based on Nogués’ design. Rights to all images: Dani Rovira (except last one: Santi Mercader).
