Description

Eighteen-piece silver cutlery set: five soup spoons, five large forks, four dessert spoons and four dessert forks. It weighs 1,120 g and the longest item is 20.5 cm long. According to the leading expert on Nogués, Cecília Vidal Maynou, we know it was designed by him for the wedding of one of his cousins, between 1924 and 1928. It was inherited by the family of August Testor i Permanyer (a relative of Nogués and a founder member of the Fundació Xavier Nogués). It was auctioned by Balclis in Barcelona on 25/06/2020, lot no. 125. There are two preparatory drawings for a cutlery set, which is certainly this one, in the MNAC’s drawings collection (inventory nos. 107.257 and 107.258). Image rights: Balclis.
