Description

There are two known states of this print. The first is an etching produced in four stages. The second (MNAC) uses the aquatint technique with the tonal effects achieved in five or six stages using one grain size of resin. The print is highly accomplished technically and the figures are well balanced, evoking a solemn sense of grandeur. The admirable contrast between the whites of the sky and the gradations of the dark tones is particularly remarkable. We are including a print from the Palau Antiguitats gallery which has been cut on the plate mark. (December 2022).
