Description
From 1920 to 1921 Xavier Nogués worked on a series of exterior panels and friezes on a wine-related theme at the Celler i Cooperativa Agrícola de Pinell de Brai (Tarragona), the cooperative winery designed by the architect Cèsar Martinell. Nogués produced detailed drawings inside squares showing the position of each tile to make it easier to put them in the right place. The project was postponed due to the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War and the tiles weren’t fitted until 1949 after Nogués’ death. Some of the drawings from this project are at the Museu de Valls and were donated by the architect’s daughter, Maria Martinell.
