Description

A set of 88 glazed ceramic tiles on a wine-related theme that were intended to be part of a frieze along the façade of the cooperative winery, the Celler Cooperatiu de Pinell de Brai (Terra Alta, Tarragona) in 1921. A mistake, specifically an easel on one of the panels, meant that the project architect, Cèsar Martinell, rejected this frieze. However, before destroying the set, he kept it at his home and replaced it with another. The architect’s daughter, Maria Martinell, and her family donated the frieze to the Museu de Valls in 2015.
